Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision last night in Hillsborough County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian and the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:25 pm, a GMC Yukon, driven by a 20-year-old Plant City man, was traveling westbound on SR-60. West of Horton Road, a 50-year-old Plant City woman, walked into the path of and was struck by the vehicle despite the driver taking evasive action.
The driver lost control, departed the roadway, and overturned. As the vehicle overturned, the driver was ejected. Both the driver and the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or pedestrian involved in the collision.
