An 18-year-old Parrish woman was killed Thursday night after losing control of her SUV, striking a concrete barrier and overturning multiple times on Interstate 75 in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 10:08 pm on northbound Interstate 75 near mile marker 208.
According to FHP, the woman was driving a 2003 Ford Escape northbound in the center lane when she attempted to change into the inside lane.
Troopers said the driver lost control of the SUV during a lane change, causing the vehicle's left front to collide with a concrete traffic barrier.
Following the initial impact, the Ford Escape was redirected across the roadway and overturned several times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
