Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:56 pm, a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 17-year-old male from Tampa, was traveling southbound on US-41.
North of Little Lake Road, a 45-year-old Spring Hill man was driving a Honda Civic northbound. He attempted to overtake and then pass other traffic. The first vehicle swerved to the shoulder to avoid a collision, but it then struck a concrete culvert parallel to the roadway. Upon impact, the first vehicle overturned multiple times, during which the driver was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.
A passenger traveling in the first vehicle, a 16-year-old female from Tampa, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the passenger involved in the collision.
