Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a passenger and a DUI arrest.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:06 PM, a Buick Verano, driven by a 37-year-old Brooksville woman, was traveling northbound on US-19.

At the same time, a Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by a 67-year-old Hudson woman, was traveling northbound on US-19 ahead of the first vehicle.

North of Bolton Avenue, Vehicle 1 overtook and collided with the rear of the second vehicle.

After the collision, the Buick departed the roadway and struck a fence and three boats located at the 15500 block of US-19 in Hudson.

The Chrysler also departed the roadway, struck a light pole, and then a culvert. It then continued, became airborne, struck a utility pole, and finally a cable box.

Transported to an area hospital, a 68-year-old Hudson man, traveling as a passenger in the second vehicle, later died from injuries suffered during the crash.

Both drivers were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The first driver, Ashley Silver Marshall, was later determined to be impaired and was arrested by FHP Troopers with a blood alcohol content of 0.240.  Marshall was delivered to the Pasco County Jail, charged with DUI Manslaughter.

The FHP did not release the name of the other driver or passenger involved in the collision.
