Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:06 pm, a Genesis GV80, driven by a 28-year-old Orlando man, was traveling on southbound US-98.
At the same time, a Kia Soul, driven by a 51-year-old Lakeland man, was traveling northbound on US-98.
South of Stranton Hall Drive, the first vehicle attempted to pass another, entered the path and struck the second.
After the collision, both vehicles rotated to final rest in the travel lanes and shoulder.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The first driver and two passengers traveling in the second vehicle were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
