Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist dies in two-vehicle collision in Charlotte County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Charlotte County last night, resulting in a motorcyclist's death.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:28 pm Thursday, a motorcycle driven by a 45-year-old North Fort Myers man was traveling south on US 41 (Tamiami Trail) in the right lane.
At the same time a Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup truck - towing a trailer driven by a 20-year-old Westwego, LA man, was traveling south on US 41 (Tamiami Trail) in the left lane.
As they approached, the motorcyclist changed lanes onto the left lane and collided with the rear trailer portion of the pickup. After the collision, the motorcyclist was separated from his motorcycle, and the two vehicles became engulfed in flames.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the second vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the deceased driver involved in the crash.
