Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist dies after two-vehicle collision in Lee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Lee County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:08 p.m., an 84-year-old Brookfield, CT man driving a Nissan SUV was traveling north on US-41 at the intersection of Boston Road, stopped in the left turn lane, facing a green traffic signal.
At the same time, a 30-year-old Bonita Springs man riding a Honda motorcycle was traveling south on US-41, approaching the intersection of Boston Road, facing a green traffic signal.
As they approached, the first vehicle attempted to negotiate a U-turn in front of the approaching motorcycle, and they collided.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the first vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of either driver.
