Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist dies after two-vehicle collision in Hardee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Hardee County last night that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:32 pm, a 29-year-old Wauchula man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling east on State Road-62, approaching the intersection of Mansfield Road.

At the same time, a 63-year-old Wauchula man riding a motorcycle was traveling east on State Road 62, directly in front of the SUV.

As they approached, SUV driver 1 failed to slow his vehicle and collided with the motorcycle's rear.

After the collision, the SUV traveled off the roadway and collided with a wooden fence and a tree.

The motorcycle overturned onto the grass shoulder, and its rider was ejected.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. The SUV driver reported minor injuries to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.

 

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers.
