Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Brevard County last night that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:36 p.m., a 2018 Honda CRV sport utility vehicle driven by a 72-year-old Melbourne woman was traveling west out of a driveway on Courtenay Parkway, north of Catalina Isle Drive.

At the same time, a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 21-year-old Cocoa man was traveling northbound on Courtenay Parkway, approaching Catalina Isle Drive in the inside lane.

As they approached, the SUV driver turned left, attempting to travel south on Courtenay Parkway in the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the two vehicles collided.

The driver and a passenger (a 77-year-old Melbourne man) in the SUV reported no injuries to the FHP and remained at the scene. The motorcyclist was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The crash is under investigation.

The FHP did not release the motorcyclist, driver or passenger's names that were involved in the collision.
