A 24-year-old Tampa man was killed Tuesday night in a crash involving a motorcycle and a van at an intersection in Pasco County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:20 pm at the intersection of County Line Road and Maximilian Drive. Investigators say the motorcyclist, operating a Kawasaki motorcycle, was traveling eastbound on County Line Road at a high rate of speed.
At the same time, a Hyundai van driven by a 41-year-old Land O’ Lakes man was traveling northbound on Maximilian Drive. As the van entered the intersection and turned left, it moved into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck the van, resulting in significant injuries to both drivers. Emergency responders transported both men to an area hospital, where the motorcyclist later died from his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the motorcyclist or the van driver involved in the collision.
