Breaking News Overnight: Motorcyclist dies after collision with SUV in Charlotte County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Charlotte County last night, resulting in a motorcyclist's death.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:40 pm, a 30-year-old North Port man riding a motorcycle was traveling east on State Road 776, approaching Roberta Drive.
At the same time, a 22-year-old Rotunda West woman driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling north, crossing the intersection of State Road 776 and Roberta Drive.
As they approached, the front of the motorcycle collided with the left side of the SUV on the inside lane of State Road 776.
After the collision, the SUV rotated and came to a final rest on the paved median.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The SUV driver and two vehicle passengers were injured and transported to an area hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the deceased motorcyclist, or the driver and passengers in the SUV.
