From the Florida Highway Patrol
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal collision last night in Hillsborough County that resulted in the death of a bicyclist and a fleeing driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:20 pm, an early model red Dodge Charger with black rims was traveling eastbound on SR-674.
West of 4th Street, the vehicle overtook and collided with a 19-year-old male bicyclist from Guatemala traveling eastbound on SR-674.
Following the collision, the unknown driver fled the crash scene, leaving behind vehicle parts from the front portion of the vehicle.
The bicyclist was transported to an area hospital and later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or possesses information regarding this incident is asked to call the Highway Patrol at *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
