Breaking News Overnight: Pedestrian hit and critically injured by fleeing driver in Hillsborough County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run collision last night in Hillsborough County that resulted in a pedestrian suffering critical injuries.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:35 pm, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR-574. 

At the intersection of Pettie Road, a 33-year-old Guatemalan man walked into the path of a vehicle and was struck by it. 

Following the collision, the unknown driver fled the crash scene. 

Vehicle parts located by troopers at the crash scene indicate the suspect vehicle is a 2017-2019 model, red in color, Ford F250 or Ford F350.  

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.   

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.

The FHP did not release the name of the pedestrian involved in the collision.
