Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Collier County last night that resulted in the death of a driver and multiple injuries.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:10 pm, a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 34-year-old Folansbee, WV woman, was traveling north on State Road 29, approaching Interstate 75.
At the same time, a Ford F-150 driven by a 58-year-old Miami man was traveling south on State Road 29, south of Interstate 75.
As they approached, the first vehicle failed to maintain a single lane, entered the southbound travel lane, and collided with the second vehicle.
The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
All other occupants, which included two minors in the first vehicle and four passengers in the second vehicle, were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious, according to the FHP report.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
