Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision last night in Putnam County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:46 pm, a 21-year-old Palatka man driving a pickup truck was traveling west on State Road 20 (Crill Avenue). The driver attempted to slow down and applied the brakes, causing him to lose control of the pickup truck and cross over the center curbed median.
The vehicle overturned on its side, coming to final rest on its driver's side within the center curbed median.
The driver was transported to HCA Florida Putnam Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver.
