Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after single-vehicle collision in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Pasco County last night that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:40 p.m., a Toyota Corolla driven by a 38-year-old New Port Richey man was traveling eastbound on SR-56 and entered the curved entrance ramp to southbound I-75. 

While traversing the ramp, the driver failed to negotiate the curve, which caused the vehicle to travel to the east shoulder. There, it struck a yield sign and a large light pole in successive order.

The driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.     

The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
