Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after single-vehicle collision in Hardee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Hardee County yesterday that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:38 pm, a pickup truck driven by a 54-year-old Zolfo Springs man was traveling south on Manley Road, approaching a stop sign at the T-intersection with Popash Road.
As he approached, the driver failed to stop at the stop sign and continued south across Popash Road and the grass shoulder, colliding with a small wooden post and a large oak tree.
The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver.
