Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision last night in Hillsborough County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:50 p.m., a Honda Civic, driven by a 16-year-old male from Plant City, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 4.
Near Milepost 6, the driver lost control along the wet roadway, the vehicle rotated to the shoulder, and collided with a concrete barrier wall.
Upon impact, the vehicle continued to rotate to final rest in the travel lanes of the interstate. As it approached, a Toyota Corolla driven by a 20-year-old Orlando woman was traveling eastbound on I-4 and collided with the first vehicle before coming to a controlled stop in the median.
As it approached, a Toyota Camry driven by a 24-year-old Lakeland man was traveling eastbound on I-4 when the driver observed the first vehicle in the travel lanes, took evasive action, began to rotate, and collided with the second driver, who had previously exited her vehicle before finally striking a median barrier.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the collision.
