Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision this morning in Alachua County that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 7:22 p.m., a 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by a 23-year-old Newberry man was traveling west on State Road 26 (West Newberry Road) when, for an unknown reason, it veered right, causing it to cross onto the north shoulder and collide with the curb and power pole guide wire.
The pickup continued to travel northwesterly and rotated clockwise, colliding into a wood fence, overturning and ejecting the driver.
The vehicle came to rest on its wheels facing northeast on top of another wire fence.
The driver was transported to UF Health Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver.
