Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies after a single-vehicle collision in Charlotte County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Charlotte County last night, resulting in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:50 pm, a 31-year-old Englewood man driving a pickup truck was traveling west on South McCall Road at a high rate of speed.
As it advanced, the vehicle traveled off the roadway, became airborne, collided with a utility pole, and overturned.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle, critically injured, and transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
