Breaking News Overnight: Bradenton motorcyclist killed in overnight crash on US 19 in Manatee County

A 57-year-old motorcyclist from Bradenton was killed early Sunday after losing control and being struck by an SUV on US 19 in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around midnight on April 19 on eastbound US 19, just west of Hightower Road.

According to FHP, the motorcyclist was traveling in the left lane when he lost control. The vehicle veered onto the shoulder and overturned, ejecting the rider onto the roadway.

Troopers said the motorcyclist came to rest in the eastbound left lane of US 19.

A second vehicle, an SUV driven by a 39-year-old man from St. Petersburg, was also traveling eastbound and collided with the motorcyclist as he lay in the roadway.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was not injured and remained at the scene, according to the report.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
