A 22-year-old Bradenton man was killed early Friday after his SUV struck the rear of another vehicle on Interstate 75 in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:23 a.m. on northbound Interstate 75 near mile marker 215.

According to FHP, the Bradenton man was driving a 2025 Hyundai Kona northbound when it approached a 1996 Honda Civic traveling directly ahead in the same lane.

Troopers said the front of the Hyundai collided with the rear of the Honda.

After the initial impact, the Hyundai traveled off the roadway, entered the grass shoulder and struck a tree.

The Hyundai driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Honda was occupied by a 22-year-old Parrish woman who was driving and a 24-year-old Bradenton woman riding as a passenger. Both suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to FHP.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
