Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run collision in Sarasota County last night that resulted in a bicyclist suffering critical injuries.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:30 pm, a vehicle was traveling west on Bee Ridge Road,  approaching McIntosh Road. At the same time, a 27-year-old Sarasota man riding a bicycle was traveling in an unknown direction (north or south) on the east side of the intersection of Bee Ridge Road and McIntosh Road.

As it approached, the vehicle collided with the bicycle.

The bicyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The FHP did not release the name of the bicyclist involved in the crash.
