Breaking News Overnight: Bicyclist hit-and-killed by SUV in Manatee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a bicyclist hit and killed by a sport utility vehicle last night in Manatee County.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:47 pm, a 59-year-old Punta Gorda man driving a sport utility vehicle was traveling north on US 41 (14th Street West) on the left lane, approaching 33rd Avenue West.
At the same time, a 33-year-old Bradenton man riding a bicycle was traveling on southbound US 41.
Also, a 27-year-old Bradenton man was walking south on the sidewalk adjacent to the southbound US 41 travel lanes.
As they approached, the SUV traveled over a raised curb median, entered the southbound US 41 travel lanes, and collided with the bicycle.
The bicyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene.
After the collision, the SUV also collided with a utility pole, and debris from the crash collided with the pedestrian, who sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver, bicyclist, or pedestrian involved in the crash.
