Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision last night in Hillsborough County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 9:05 pm, a Chevy Silverado, driven by a 77-year-old Plant City woman, was traveling northbound on SR-39.
At the same time, a Nissan Versa driven by a 19-year-old Plant City man was traveling southbound on SR-39, and a Ford F350, driven by a 32-year-old Plant City man, was traveling northbound on SR-39 behind the first vehicle.
South of Moriczville Lane, the first vehicle attempted to turn left into a private driveway, entered the path of the second vehicle, and was struck by it.
Upon impact, the first vehicle rotated to the west shoulder while the second vehicle rotated into the path of and was struck by the third vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, while the driver of the first vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the third vehicle reported no injuries to the FHP during the incident.
The FHP did not release the names of the people involved in the collision.
