Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision this morning in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:46 am, a Freightliner propane tanker truck, driven by a 62-year-old Hudson man, was traveling westbound in the right turn lane on SR-54 at the intersection of Grand Boulevard.
At the same time, a 43-year-old woman from New Port Richey was walking northbound across SR-54 in a crosswalk.
As they approached, the pedestrian walked into the path and was struck by the truck, which began turning northbound on Grand Boulevard under a red traffic signal.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver reported no injuries to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or the pedestrian involved in the collision.
