Breaking Morning News: Two-vehicle collision in Sarasota County kills driver

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Sarasota County that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 10:14 am, a Lexus sport utility vehicle driven by an 83-year-old Venice man was traveling eastbound on Tempest Harbor Loop, approaching the Stop sign located at River Road.
At the same time, a dump truck driven by a 56-year-old Bradenton man was traveling southbound on River Road approaching Tempest Harbor Loop.
As they approached, the first vehicle drove directly in front of the dump truck, violating his right of way, and they collided.
The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene by Sarasota County EMS. The second driver reported no injuries to the FHP.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate this traffic crash.
The FHP did not release the name of the drivers involved in the crash.
