At the same time, a Chevy Silverado 2500 with a utility trailer in tow, driven by a 20-year-old Riverview man, was traveling east on County Road 675, east of 125th Avenue East.
As they approached, the first vehicle veered into the eastbound travel lane and the second vehicle's travel path, which attempted to take evasive action by veering towards the eastbound grass shoulder but was unsuccessful.
As a result, the left side of the first vehicle collided (sideswiped) with the left side of the second vehicle.
After the collision, both vehicles continued in their respective directions. The front left of the first vehicle collided with the front left leading edge of the second vehicle's trailer, which became detached and was redirected off the roadway towards the south onto the property of 12635 County Road 675.
The second vehicle was redirected southeast as it rotated counterclockwise and eventually came to a final rest facing northeast on the eastbound lane and grass shoulder of County Road 675.
The first vehicle rotated counterclockwise and finally rested on the eastbound lane of County Road 675, facing southwest.
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital and was pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger (a 26-year-old Riverview man) suffered minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate this crash.
