Breaking Morning News: One dead, four injured after a two-vehicle collision in Manatee County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Manatee County that resulted in the death of a passenger and injuries to four others.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:37 am, a 51-year-old Bowling Green, FL man driving a Dodge van was traveling westbound on State Road 62, approaching the intersection with Saffold Road.
At the same time, a 59-year-old Texas man driving a Ram truck was stopped facing southbound on Saffold Road at the intersection with State Road 62 at the stop sign.
As they approached, the truck proceeded forward, making a left turn and traveling into the path of the van, and they collided. Both vehicles rotated within the roadway and traveled into the south shoulder of State Road 62.
The van overturned onto its right side, coming to final rest facing southerly. The truck came to final rest facing in a westerly direction on the south shoulder of State Road 62.
According to the FHP report, one passenger was pronounced deceased, and four others (both drivers and two passengers) were injured - including three Trauma Alerts.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate this traffic crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the passengers.
