Breaking Morning News: Eight injured after a two-vehicle collision in Pasco County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision this morning in Pasco County that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to six passengers and two drivers.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 11:37 am, a Nissan Cube, driven by a 33-year-old Hudson woman, was traveling northbound on US-19.  

At the same time, a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 42-year-old Hudson man, was traveling southbound on US-19. 

At the intersection of SR-52, the second driver received a green traffic signal and began to turn left onto SR-52.  The vehicle entered the path of and was struck by the first vehicle, which failed to stop for a red traffic signal. 

After the collision, the first vehicle overturned with several passengers being ejected onto the roadway, while the second vehicle came to rest, both in the northbound lanes. 

The passengers traveling in the first vehicle consisted of six children between the ages of five and nine years old. 

All of the occupants of the first vehicle were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was not transported. 

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the passengers involved in the collision.
