Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Putnam County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:31 pm, a 2013 Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by a 57-year-old Palm Coast man was traveling eastbound on State Road 20 east of County Road 20A. At the same time, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 24-year-old Archer man was traveling westbound on State Road 20.

The motorcycle and its driver traveled into the lane closure within a construction area. The Harley Davidson came to final rest on its right side, facing westbound.

The Silverado came to rest near the area of collision in the westbound lane facing westbound. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet that was not DOT-compliant.

The FHP did not release the names of either driver.
