Two separate fatal crashes on U.S. 192 in Osceola County claimed the lives of a motorcyclist and a pedestrian within about two hours of each other late Friday and early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The first crash occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday near Vacanza Boulevard.
According to FHP, a 45-year-old Kissimmee man was riding a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound in the inside lane of U.S. 192 when he failed to notice a 2025 Mazda CX-50 traveling ahead of him in the same lane. The motorcycle struck the rear-right corner of the SUV.
The motorcyclist was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. FHP said the SUV was driven by a 46-year-old man from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Three passengers — a 46-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy, and a 21-year-old woman, all from San Juan — were not injured. The report did not indicate whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
Less than three hours later, at approximately 1:44 am. Saturday, troopers responded to another fatal crash several miles east at the intersection of U.S. 192 and Pineview Crest Road.
Investigators said a 66-year-old Pennsylvania man was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue eastbound on U.S. 192 when a 32-year-old St. Cloud man was standing in the roadway in the eastbound inside lane, outside of a marked crosswalk. The SUV struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nissan driver, along with his two passengers — a 57-year-old Pennsylvania woman and a 67-year-old Melbourne woman — were not injured and remained at the scene, according to FHP.
