Updating Breaking News: Two dead, one injured after a two-vehicle collision in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Marion County that resulted in the death of a driver and passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5 pm, a sedan driven by a 72-year-old Ocala man and transporting a 71-year-old Ocala woman was traveling northbound on U.S. 441, attempting to make a left-hand turn onto SE 95th Street.

At the same time, a 20-year-old Ft. McCoy man driving a pickup truck was traveling southbound on U.S. 441.

As they approached, the sedan entered the intersection to make a left-hand turn, and the pickup truck collided with the right side of the sedan.

Both occupants of the sedan were transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where both were pronounced deceased.

The pickup driver was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and is in stable condition.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or the passenger involved in the collision.
