Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision yesterday in Citrus County that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:10 pm, a Kia Sportage, driven by a 71-year-old Crystal River man, was traveling eastbound on West Fort Island Trail. 

Near Mile Marker 6, the driver lost control for an unknown reason, departed the roadway, and collided with several trees. 

The driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. 

The FHP did not release the driver's name involved in the crash.
