Updating Breaking News: One dead, three seriously injured after two-vehicle collision in Brevard County

Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Brevard County that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:54 pm, a 2005 Infiniti G-35 driven by a 21-year-old Cocoa man and a 2020 Kenworth Tractor-Trailer driven by a 50-year-old Merritt Island man were traveling eastbound on State Road 528 just east of State Road 3 (Courtenay Parkway) in the left lane.

For unknown reasons, the first vehicle lost control and ran off the roadway left onto the left shoulder. It then rotated clockwise back to the roadway in the direct path of the tractor-trailer, and they collided.

This impact caused the first vehicle to overturn onto the right shoulder.

The driver of the first vehicle and two passengers (a 21-year-old man from Cocoa and a 17-year-old male from Titusville) were transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Another passenger (a 20-year-old Merritt Island woman) was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on the scene.

The tractor-trailer driver did not report any injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the collision.
