Updating Breaking News: One dead, three injured after a two-vehicle collision in Marion County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday in Marion County that resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:53 pm,  a 29-year-old Citra man driving a pickup truck was traveling southbound on NE 160th Avenue Road.

At the same time, a 36-year-old Ft. McCoy man driving a pickup truck was traveling northbound on NE 160th Avenue Road.

As they advanced, the first vehicle crossed over the double yellow center lane lines, traveling into the northbound lane, and swerved to the left to avoid the second vehicle. The second vehicle swerved to the right, and as a result of the vehicles both swerving in the same direction and collided.

All occupants were transported to the hospital by Marion County Fire Rescue. The front seat passenger of the second vehicle (a 34-year-old Holiday woman)  was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passengers involved in the crash.
