Updating Breaking News: One dead, one seriously injured after a single-vehicle collision in Lake County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Lake County yesterday that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:21 pm, a 2020 Ford F-350 driven by a 31-year-old Leesburg man was traveling westbound on Lake Erie Road east of Bay Lake Road. As it approached, the driver failed to maintain their lane while negotiating a left-hand curve. As a result, the vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

The drivfer was transported to Orlando Health-South Lake Hospital with serious injuries. A 27-year-old Mascotte man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the crash scene.

 

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the driver or passenger involved in the crash.
