Updating Breaking News: One dead, one seriously injured after a single-vehicle collision in Highlands County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle collision in Highlands County yesterday that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:41 pm, a 36-year-old LaBelle man driving a pickup truck was traveling south on US-27, north of Archbold Road.
As it advanced, the vehicle entered the center grass median, rotated, and overturned.
The driver and a 44-year-old LaBelle woman who was a passenger in the vehicle were ejected.
The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to Advent Health Lake Placid.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver or passenger involved in the collision.
