Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash in Columbia County yesterday that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 3:25 pm, a sedan driven by a 66-year-old Wellborn woman was traveling westbound on Baya Drive.
At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 41-year-old Lake City man was eastbound on Baya Drive.
For reasons still under investigation, the sedan drifted across the centerline into the eastbound lanes, where it struck the pickup truck head-on.
Both drivers were transported to HCA Florida Lake City Hospital, where the sedan driver was pronounced deceased.
The pickup truck driver suffered serious injuries, according to the FHP report.
FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
