Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Highlands County yesterday that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 1:48 p.m., a 62-year-old Sebring woman driving a sedan was traveling east on State Road 66 in the left turn lane, approaching the intersection of Sparta Road.
At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 44-year-old Sebring man was traveling west on State Road 66, approaching the intersection of Sparta Road.
As they approached, the first vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Sparta Road and entered the path of the second vehicle, and they collided.
After the crash, the second vehicle overturned, and its driver was ejected.
The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene. The first vehicle driver reported minor injuries to the FHP, according to the report.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
