Updating Breaking News: Motorcyclist dies after collision with SUV in Pasco County

Driver arrested for DUI Manslaughter

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision last night in Pasco County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Ford Escape sport utility vehicle driven by a 72-year-old Lutz man was traveling southbound on US-41. 

At the same time, a Suzuki motorcycle, driven by a 26-year-old Largo man, was traveling northbound on US-41. 

At the intersection of Lake Floyd Drive, the SUV turned left into the path and was struck by the motorcycle. 

Transported to an area hospital, the motorcyclist later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. 

The SUV driver, William Edward Ricks, was later determined to be impaired and was arrested by Troopers for DUI Manslaughter.   

The FHP did not release the name of the motorcyclist involved in the collision.
