Updating Breaking News: Motorcyclist dies after a three-vehicle collision in Lake County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision in Lake County yesterday that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:30 pm, a 59-year-old Umatilla man was driving a 2016 Ford F-250 pickup truck northbound on Calhoun Road south of Kine Drive.
At the same time, a motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Calhoun Road north of Kine Drive, and a 50-year-old Clermont man driving a 2023 Ram ProMaster van was traveling northbound on Calhoun Road south of Kine Drive behind the first vehicle.
As the three vehicles advanced, the first driver attempted to make a left turn onto Kine Drive, directly into the motorcycle's path. As a result, the two vehicles collided. After the initial impact, the second vehicle struck the third vehicle.
The first and third drivers were not injured, according to the report.
The motorcyclist was transported to AdventHealth Waterman Hospital and pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the motorcyclist or drivers involved in the crash.
