Updating Breaking News: FHP looking for hit-and-run pickup driver in fatal collision with pedestrian in Gilchrist County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol are looking for a hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian last night in Gilchrist County.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:45 pm Sunday, a pickup truck was traveling northbound on SE 53rd Court when it struck a 68-year-old Trenton woman walking in the roadway.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The pickup truck fled the scene northbound on SE 53rd Court. The pickup truck was recovered abandoned nearby, and a person of interest is being sought.
The FHP did not release the name of the deceased pedestrian.
