Breaking News Overnight: Driver dies in multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 in Brevard County

Posted

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision this morning in Brevard County that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 4:28 am a 2018 Jeep Renegade driven by a 25-year-old Mebourne woman and a 2011 Ford E-250 driven by a 55-year-old Pompano Beach man were traveling southbound on Interstate 95 south of mile marker 168 (Malabar Road) in the center lane. The first vehicle was directly behind the second vehicle but failed to maintain a safe distance, and collided with the trailer and boat attached to the second vehicle.

After the collision, the second vehicle came to a stop in the outside southbound lane. Shortly after, a 2013 Dodge Journey driven by a 60-year-old Palm Bay man was traveling southbound on I-95  near mile marker 168 in the outside lane, and did not observe that the second vehicle was topped, and collided with the rear of the boat and trailer.

The impact of that collision dislodged the vehicle from the trailer and propelled it onto the grass shoulder.

The driver of the third vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The drivers of the other vehicles reported no injuries to the FHP.

The FHP did not release the name of the drivers involved in the collision.

This is breaking news and may be updated if more details are known.
