Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after collision with pickup truck in Lake County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Lake County yesterday that resulted in the death of the driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:39 p.m., a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class driven by a 56-year-old Clermont woman was traveling westbound on Schofield Road west of Five Mile Road.
At the same time, a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 43-year-old Clermont man was traveling eastbound on Schofield Road west of Five Mile Road.
As they approached, the first vehicle's driver veered into the eastbound lane in the direct path of the pickup truck for an unknown reason. As a result, they collided head-on.
The first vehicle's driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center and pronounced deceased. The pickup driver was transported to ORMC with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the crash.
