Updating Breaking News: Driver dies after a two-vehicle collision in Sumter County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Sumter County yesterday that resulted in the death of a driver.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:15 pm, a Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 55-year-old Plant City woman, was traveling southbound on County Road 471.
At the same time, a tractor-trailer, driven by a 57-year-old Lakeland man, was traveling northbound on CR-471.
As the two approached North of Main Line Road, the first vehicle entered the northbound lane for an unknown reason and collided with the trailer towed by the second vehicle.
After the collision, the first vehicle overturned in the roadway, with the driver being ejected, while the second vehicle entered the shoulder and struck a tree.
Transported to an area hospital, the driver of the first vehicle later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
