Breaking Morning News: Two-vehicle collision in Sumter County kills driver

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle collision this morning in Sumter County that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:37 a.m., a dump truck driven by a 63-year-old Floral City man was traveling eastbound on CR-476. 

At the same time, a Chevy van, driven by a 45-year-old Webster man, was traveling northbound on SR-471. 

At the intersection of the two roadways, the first driver failed to stop for a posted stop sign, entered the path, and was struck by the second vehicle.

Transported to an area hospital, the second driver later died from injuries suffered during the crash. 

The first driver was not injured during the incident.

 The FHP did not release the drivers' names involved in the crash.
