A wrong-way driver was killed, and three other people were seriously injured Sunday morning in a head-on collision that left one vehicle partially engulfed in flames in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:20 am on June 14 at the intersection of State Road 33 and Bakers Lane. According to FHP investigators, a 2026 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of State Road 33 as it approached Bakers Lane.

Troopers said the Camry entered the direct path of a southbound 2016 Dodge Journey that was traveling properly in the southbound lane south of Bakers Lane. The two vehicles collided head-on.

The impact caused the Dodge Journey to become partially engulfed in flames, investigators said.

The Camry's driver, a 24-year-old Orlando man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers riding in the Camry — a 25-year-old Orlando man and a 23-year-old Oviedo man — suffered serious injuries and were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the Dodge Journey, a 33-year-old Kissimmee man, also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

All three occupants of the Camry were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report. The condition of the Dodge Journey driver's seat belt use was not immediately known.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
