Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a collision in Seminole County this morning between a pedestrian and a pickup truck that resulted in the death of the pedestrian.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:35 am, a 34-year-old Eustis man driving a 2002 Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling southbound on US 17-92, approaching Spartan Drive in the outside lane.
At the same time, a 72-year-old Maitland man was crossing 17-92 in a westerly direction at the intersection of Spartan Drive in a marked crosswalk.
As they approached, a witness said the driver had a green traffic light and that the pedestrian walked into the direct path of the pickup truck, and they collided.
The pedestrian was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center and pronounced deceased.
The driver reported no injuries to the FHP.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian involved in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
