Breaking News this Morning: One dead, one seriously injured after two-vehicle collision in Lake County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision in Lake County this morning that resulted in the death of a driver.

According to the FHP report, at approximately 6:11 am, a 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by a 40-year-old Umatilla man was stopped southbound at the stop sign on Pine Street at the intersection of County Road 450-A.

At the same time, a 1996 Honda Civic driven by a 32-year-old Umatilla man was traveling westbound on CR 450-A approaching Pine Street.

As they approached, the pickup driver failed to yield from the stop sign and came into the direct path of the second vehicle, and they collided.

The pickup driver was transported to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital with serious injuries. The second driver was transported to Advent Health Waterman Hospital and pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers involved in the collision.
